TikTok Expands ‘Add to Music App’ Feature to 19 New Markets

After launching a feature allowing users to save sounds to third-party streaming services last month, TikTok has announced the expansion of its “Add to Music App” expansion in 19 additional markets.

The video-sharing platform is continuing its efforts to translate the success of music on the platform onto DSPs with its latest development. TikTok initially unveiled the feature in the United States and United Kingdom, allowing users to select their preferred streaming app including Amazon Music, Apple Music and Spotify.

The latest update will permit TikTokers to earmark sounds in the following markets: Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE, Argentina, Columbia, the Netherlands, Turkey, South Africa, Vietnam and the Philippines. Those who use Amazon Music will be able to access the feature if they’re Prime or Unlimited customers, though will be unable to utilize it in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, UAE, Turkey, South Africa and the Philippines.

Users who scroll through TikTok can access this feature from the For You feed, with an “Add Song” button next to a track name that facilitates the transfer from the app to streaming service. An additional entry point can be found on the Sound Detail page for each song. On Spotify, the saved song goes onto your “Liked Songs ” playlist, while on Amazon the track will be earmarked on a “TikTok Songs” playlist or another of your choice.

“We have already had an incredible response to the launch of Add to Music App in the US and UK,” says Ole Obermann, TikTok’s global head of music business development. “Music fans are embracing the opportunity to save music from TikTok directly to their favorite music streaming services, driving music discovery and helping more tracks to break through and become hits. We are really excited to be bringing the feature to millions more music fans around the world, providing even more opportunities for artists to reach new audiences and grow their careers.”

“With Add to Music App, we’ve streamlined the music discovery experience in the US and the UK for both TikTok users and artists,” adds Lindsey Kelt of TikTok’s distribution partnerships. “We are excited to expand access to this transformational feature to TikTok users in so many additional countries and bring more joy through a simplified musical discovery experience.”
