Tiffany Haddish is opening up about her sobriety journey.

On Friday, May 31, the comedian spoke to PEOPLE about how she keeps up her sobriety journey while attending various parties as she hosted the She Ready Foundation's A Night Under the Stars adult prom in Los Angeles.

"Well, first of all, I don't crave it," Haddish, 44, said of alcohol.

The Girl's Trip actress added that she always keeps a sweet treat on her to curb any desires that might come up for an alcoholic beverage.

"I always have a little piece of candy, a Jolly Rancher or something," she explained. "I just drink a ginger beer, put a little cranberry juice in there. Hey, she good to go."

Haddish previously explained that the 80s-themed party for her She Ready Foundation "is for the grownups who never got to go to prom," during an appearance on Sherri Shepherd's talk show Sherri.

"I know people that never got to go [to prom] because nobody ever asked them or maybe they were gay and back in the 1900s you couldn't go with the person you really wanted to go with," she further explained.

Haddish previously revealed to PEOPLE in April that she had been sober and celibate for at least six months after she had been arrested on suspicion of DUI in Georgia and Los Angeles. However, despite her world having "fell apart," she shared that it taught her important life lessons.

“I haven’t had a drink since [the incident]. When I sit back and look at my life, everything that’s crazy that’s happened is because somebody or myself had alcohol in their system," she told PEOPLE at the time.

Haddish said that others may also see some improvements if they consider cutting alcohol, and stated, “This is my challenge to people. Stop drinking for six months and just see how your life changes."

"You’re going to have your snatched body back, you’re going to see your relationships will be better and you’ll stop dealing with people you don’t need to be dealing with," she added.
