The last few weeks have likely dragged just a smidge (unless you're a key worker), what with England being in a second national lockdown (and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively implementing their own restrictive measures to help slow and stop the spread of coronavirus). Now, the government have announced which regions, towns and cities will be in which of the three different tiers – so if you're wondering what tier you're in after lockdown ends on 2 December, wonder no more.

Firstly, let's just quickly recap the differences between tier 1, 2 and 3:

Tier 1: Medium

  • Follow the rule of six if meeting indoors or outdoors

  • Restaurants and pubs are to close at 11pm

  • Where possible, continue to work from home

  • Limited spectators can attend sporting events and performances

  • Personal care, including hairdressing, is allowed

Tier 2: High

  • Households cannot mix indoors and the rule of six applies to meeting outdoors

  • Pubs and restaurants to close at 11pm

  • Alcohol may only be served alongside a substantial meal

  • Limited spectators can attend sporting events and performances

  • Personal care, including hairdressing, is allowed

Tier 3: Very High

  • No households mixing allowed, either indoors or outdoors in a private garden or hospitality venue

  • The rule of six applies in public outdoor spaces, such as a park

  • Pubs and restaurants are closed/only available for takeaway

  • Indoor entertainment venues are shut

  • Guidance around travelling in and out of the area

  • Personal care including hairdressing is allowed

In order to find out what tier you're in, you can visit the GOV.UK website which has a postcode search tool available.

For some of the bigger cities, we've outlined the tiers they've been placed in below:

  • London is in Tier 2

  • Liverpool is in Tier 2

  • Manchester is in Tier 3

The government have said tier allocations will be reviewed 16 December, allowing for "the possibility of areas which continue to make progress in slowing the spread of the disease" to be moved down a tier ahead of Christmas.
