Tiananmen Square anniversary marked with global vigils

Demonstrators gathered for candlelit vigils in cities around the world to commemorate those killed in Tiananmen Square on June 4 1989, when tanks and troops crushed pro-democracy protests in Beijing. In Hong Kong, the usually huge vigil was banned this year, with the police citing Covid-19 precautions.
