With 18 teams from across the world currently gathered in Shanghai to compete for the biggest prize of all in Dota 2, all eyes are on this grand dame of esports events.

Two of the 18 teams, Chaos Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas, did not make it past the Group Stage.

Alliance, Keen Gaming, Fnatic and Natus Vincere all departed on the opening day of the Main Stage (20 August) at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, while Virtus.pro and TNC Predator were eliminated on Day 2. They were followed by Mineski and Newbee, who both went out on Day 3.

Yahoo Esports looks at the results of the remaining teams competing in TI9 right now.

TI9: Main Stage Day 4 Results

Team Liquid got the ball rolling for the first series of Friday (23 August) as they beat out one of the home teams, Royal Never Give Up (RNG).

Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi and the rest of Team Liquid beat the Chinese team in straight games, including a second where the kills were 52-35 in Liquid’s favour.

In the next series of the day, South American surprise package Infamous saw their TI9 run come to an end against Team Secret.

Playing some of the most entertaining Dota of the tournament, Infamous nonetheless found it hard against Secret, losing both games straight. Still, their TI9 experience surely lent some weight to the push for South America to have more than one slot.

Liquid were back in action for the third series of the day, this time against Evil Geniuses (EG), who had dropped from the upper bracket the day before after their loss to OG.

The Europe-based team played a hard-fought and tight first game against their North American counterparts, but took to the second game strong as they forced error after error from EG.

Liquid will now await the winner of the Secret-Vici Gaming match up as they look to hit their stride in the lower bracket.

In between the games, Valve also announced a new hero in the form of Snapfire, who is basically a grandma with a gun

riding a huge lizard. We presume Ceb is lying alone somewhere feeling sad.

Main Stage Day 5 preview

Day 5 will see Vici Gaming take on Team Secret in the lower bracket for the right to face Liquid in the latter part of the day.

Meanwhile, in the upper bracket final, local favourites PSG.LGD line up against defending champions OG, in what is sure to be an electrifying match.
