Three people were rescued as their boat took on water 46 miles off Cape Fear, North Carolina, on November 27 after the US Coast Guard (USCG) directed a nearby “good Samaritan” boat toward them to help.
The USCG said their HC-130 Hercules aircraft first dropped a life raft and a bilge pump to the crew of the stricken boat. After getting into the life raft, the trio were picked up by the “good Samaritan boatcrew” and brought back to the shore, the coast guard said. No injuries were reported.
