Thousands Gather to Pay Respects to Late Pope Benedict

Thousands of mourners gathered outside St Peter’s Basilica in Rome on January 2 to pay their respects to former Pope Benedict XVI, who died on New Year’s Eve, aged 95.

Ahead of his funeral on Thursday, the remains of the late pope will be lying in state at St Peter’s Basilica.
