Thousands Evacuated as Fawn Fire Causes Destruction in Shasta County, California

The 5,850-acre Fawn Fire in Shasta County, California, was 10 percent contained as of Friday, September 24, after it had destroyed 25 structures and threatened thousands of others, Cal Fire said.

Approximately 4,000 county residents were evacuated on Thursday afternoon after a local emergency was declared earlier in the morning, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

This footage filmed by Les Potter shows the fire’s progression on Thursday in Shasta County. The first clip shows an aircraft flying over smoke in Mountain Gate, according to Potter.
