Thorsten Kaye Felt Like He ‘Already Won’ His Daytime Emmy Because His Daughter Went as His Date (Exclusive)
The actor shares daughters McKenna, 21, and Marlowe, 16, with wife Susan Haskell
Thorsten Kaye already felt like a winner far before he actually was one during the 2024 Daytime Emmys.
On Friday, June 7, the actor, 58, won the award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as Ridge Forrester in The Bold and the Beautiful. It marks his second consecutive win in the category after first winning in 2023.
When asked by PEOPLE on the red carpet how he was feeling going into the ceremony, Thorsten said, “Is it cheesy to say I've already won because my daughter is with me?”

His daughter, McKenna, 21, also spoke to PEOPLE on the carpet. “This is my first time here,” she said, recalling that her dad told her, “You're going to go. I said, ‘Okay.’ ”
“Well, wait a minute,” Thorsten interjected. “There's more to this story. So she's working as an intern on The Bold and Beautiful right now. And since it coincided with this event, I mean I couldn't not take her. So here we are.”
When asked, “Are you ever fearful of the 'nepo baby' dialogue while you're interning and how do you handle that?” McKenna replied, "I am worried about it, but then I kind of don't know."
She added, "I feel like in the end it doesn't really matter because if you're able to back up your skills, then it's a foot in the door I guess.”

Thorsten also answered the question, saying, “I want to say something about that as well.”
“The Bridges family are very close. Dorothy Bridges, Jeff and Beau's mom, was a dear friend of mine and we talked about this before and she said, ‘Listen, all we can do is crack the door open with Lloyd. Once you go through it, it's all up to you,’ " he shared.
He added, "And if I can help in any way to crack the door open, the rest is on you.”
Spending their day at the Daytime Emmys obviously isn’t typical for the father-daughter duo, but the actor who shares McKenna and Marlowe, 16, with wife Susan Haskell revealed that watching movies together is.
“We watch movies a lot. Watch a lot of movies. When they were younger, they would put on their pajamas and we'd go to late movies and they'd fall asleep in the car and they would put 'em in bed. So movie's are a big deal,” he said, adding, “And now she's studying film at the new school in New York. So we opened that door too, I think.”
