The One Show’s Alex Jones has been praised for sharing a photo breastfeeding her baby daughter.

The 44-year-old presenter is currently on maternity leave from the show after giving birth on 21 August to Annie, her third child with husband Charlie Thompson after sons Teddy, 4, and Kit, 2.

But on Monday’s episode, the star made her return to the sofa for a one-off stint as a presenter to assist her co-stars Ronan Keating and Jermaine Jenas at the Chelsea Flower Show, but not before making sure Annie was taken care of.

"We've been great, the boys have taken to little Annie brilliantly. Annie is here with my mum and dad, I've literally, honestly, she has just gone back to mum,” she said on the show.

"I had to feed her, I was like: 'She's not going to stop feeding, ah!' so she's out there."

Jones also credited her parents for helping her get back to work, looking after Annie while she was hosting.

But that came with its own complications, with Jones having to feed her daughter in between segments and up until the show aired.

"She’s literally just gone back to mum,” she told Jenas. “I had to feed her."

Posting on Instagram, Jones also shared a snap of her feeding her little girl, hiding the tot’s face with a modesty cover as she fed her on the sofa.

Alongside it, she wrote: “Multitasking!!!!”

She told Alex Scott and Jermaine Jenas the baby was “doing really well" and "came very easily".

"She’s tiny as you can see, she’s just gorgeous,” said the besotted new mum.

“And so far she’s just in her sleepy phase but so far she’s just really easy, really relaxed – let’s hope it stays like that.”

In another appearance, she joked that Annie was already aware of The One Show’s theme song despite only being a month old.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
