Thailand is bracing for the return of thousands of Thai workers including ‘Phi Noi’ (Little Ghosts), a term referring to Thai illegal workers in South Korea, following the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, the number of prospective returnees is not given.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is working on the matter.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul and Korea Immigration Service (KIS) are monitoring the situation on undocumented Thais workers who wish to return home.
Director-general of the Disease Control Department, Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, gave an assurance that health officials are taking measures to effectively monitor Thais who return from South Korea.
