Thai graduate pays respect by kneeling to brother who stopped schooling so she could continue hers (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — A Thai woman kneeled down and bowed her head to thank her older brother, after the man stopped studying so she could continue hers.

A video of the unidentified 27-year-old woman kneeling down in front of her brother after her graduation ceremony has been going around on social media since December 2, winning praise.

The caption of the video read: “Thank you to this fellow who sacrificed everything for his sister”, Mothership reported.

At the start of the video, she dressed her brother in her graduation gown before kneeling down and bowed her head.

The woman's brother then touched the top of his sister's head to acknowledge her show of affection.

Such a gesture means deep respect, contrition or thanks in Thailand.

It is carried out to show deep respect for the other party and in some cases, to also ask for pardon or forgiveness.

The woman, who is enrolled in the Faculty of Public Administration, is said to have graduated from Rajabhat University in the southern Thai province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

She was supposed to graduate in 2018, but the convocation was postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Both videos have since been viewed more than 13 million times.
