Texas Mother Breaks Into Tears as Dentist Offers to Pay for Daughter's Braces

A Texas mother broke down in tears after dentist Kenny Wilstead offered to pay for her daughter’s braces at his clinic in Garland on Friday, July 3.

Wilstead told Storyful that 14-year-old Lorelei Kate came in with her mother, Annie Kate, hoping that he could straighten her teeth by noon using porcelain crowns. However, he was unable to operate because her “teeth were far too out of alignment.”

“I just didn’t know how to tell her without breaking her heart. So I decided to offer to pay for her braces myself,” he said.

Footage shared by Wilstead shows him speaking to the girl about her experiences of being teased about her teeth.

He then explains why he can’t perform the procedure to the viewer.

Annie can be seen crying after he offers to pay for Lorelei’s braces.

Writing on Facebook, Wilstead said, "I will admit … for as many smiles I’d like to say I can fix, this one was beyond even my expertise. But I couldn’t just not help her. So I decided to treat her as I would my own daughter.

“It was a moment [Annie] will never forget because she has never once in her life been given anything as life-changing as the gift I offered her daughter that day,” Wilstead said. Credit: Dr Kenny Wilstead via Storyful
