There was tension between riot police and protesters at a rally against France's Health Pass, in Bordeaux on Saturday 4 September. The demonstration was one of many across the country against the 'Pass Sanitaire', whose use has recently been extended to include workers at all venues open to the public. The pass, in digital or printed form, records whether the holder has been vaccinated, has caught and recovered from Covid-19, or has recently tested negative for it. It is now needed to get into cafés, bars, restaurants, hospitals, museums, galleries, planes and for long-distance journeys by train or bus. Past protests against the pass have included both those concerned about civil liberties and so-called 'anti-vax' activists.
