Tennessee football has indefinitely suspended linebacker William Mohan after the redshirt sophomore was arrested for domestic assault early Sunday morning, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Mohan reportedly faces a felony charge aggravated domestic assault after allegedly assaulting a woman.

From News Sentinel:

“We are aware of the recent arrest of football student-athlete William Mohan," a UT spokesperson said in a statement. "He was immediately suspended indefinitely from all team activities.”

Mohan joined Tennessee in May 2021 as a transfer from Michigan, having originally been a four-star linebacker recruit from Brooklyn, per Rivals. He appeared in 12 games last season, his first in Knoxville, as a back-up linebacker and special-teamer.

Reported details of William Mohan's arrest are ugly

Police reportedly responded to a domestic disturbance call at 6 a.m. on Sunday in Knoxville, where a woman identified as Mohan's girlfriend claimed he was physically and verbally aggressive with her, including grabbing her by the throat multiple times.

The woman had reportedly invited Mohan to her apartment, but denied his attempt to initiate sex after he showed up intoxicated with a near-empty large bottle of alcohol. Mohan allegedly became angry and began deriding the woman and grabbing her face, refusing to leave when asked.

The woman reportedly told police she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and told Mohan to leave, at which point he grabbed her by the throat and cut his hand while taking the knife from her.

Mohan reportedly left the woman's residence at that point, but then returned and called her name while knocking on the door until she let him back in. He eventually passed out in the living room, but was not on the scene when police arrived.

An arrest warrant was soon issued for Mohan. He was eventually released on $4,000 bond and restricted from contacting the alleged victim in any way.
