Manchester United have seemingly been gifted a glorious chance to push through the signing of a long-term target after the player changed his agents in an effort to accelerate the transfer.

The Red Devils spent a whopping £216m during Erik ten Hag’s first summer in charge. However, the results on the field have certainly justified that spend, with the club enjoying an excellent season.

They already have the Carabao Cup in the bag, while more could follow with United through to the latter stages of the FA Cup and Europa League. Winning all three trophies would mirror the cup treble famously completed by Gerard Houllier’s Liverpool in 2001.

Better yet, United can also book their return to the Champions League next season through a top-four finish.

And that will grant the United boss further spending capabilities this summer to further transform the team.

Much has been written about his targets. To that end, Ten Hag is very much in the market for a big-name centre forward.

And Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk had a fascinating update with regards the possibility of landing a dream £197m-rated duo.

It’s not just strikers Ten Hag is after either.

The Red Devils boss wants a new midfielder to compliment Casemiro and a new defender too. To that end, a new right-back is in his sights with one of Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka likely to be sacrificed.

Much on that situation depends on the Portuguese’s situation. He is out of contract in 2024 and United hope to tie him to an extension. Failure to agree a deal though could see the 24-year-old moved on.

Denzel Dumfries changes agent to secure Man Utd move

The player Ten Hag wants in either of their places is Denzel Dumfries. The Inter Milan star has been on their radar ever since Ten Hag’s appointment at Old Trafford.

Inter’s vast valuation of the Dutchman – set around £44m (€50m) – always appeared too prohibitive. That always seemed to put off fellow suitors Chelsea too.

However, there has been a drastic change of circumstances surrounding the 43-times capped Netherlands star.

And Fabrizio Romano, speaking to Caught Offside, claims a change of agents is now laying the path to a cut-price move.

Better yet, with Chelsea having signed Malo Gusto from Lyon, it will likely leave United as sole suitors for the right-back.

“At the moment there’s nothing concrete or advanced,” Romano said. “And this is the reason why he appointed [a] new agent.”

Reflecting on the fee, Romano added a price between £26.4m and £30.8m could convince Inter Milan to sell.

“I think fee close to €30/35m could be enough to sign Dumfries. For sure, Premier League is his priority but all options are open.”

Man Utd, Inter Milan swap deal on the cards

Indeed, United will surely be frontrunners to sign the former PSV Eindhoven man. And Inter’s interest in an unwanted United star could give them another key edge.

To that end, the Nerazzurri are looking for a new centre-half to replace the talismanic Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian will depart at the end of his deal and is likely to join PSG as a free agent.

In his place, Simone Inzaghi’s side are keen on a move for Victor Lindelof. The Swede will have just 12 months left on his deal come the summer and United will listen to offers for his services.

Now the possibility of a potential swap deal could be an favourable option for all parties concerned.

United value Lindelof – a £31m Jose Mourinho signing from Benfica in 2017 – at around the £20m mark. That would mean United having to shell out a relatively-modest cash adjustment to ensure they can bring Dumfries to England.

However, it is surely an opportunity too good to miss for the Red Devils with the addition of Dumfries, who can play in a back four or as wing-back in a 3-4-3 system, loads of options going forwards.
