Ten Hag rewards Man Utd wonderkid with new five-year contract amid interest from Real Madrid
Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has reached an ‘agreement in principle’ on a new five-year deal at Old Trafford, according to reports.
The highly-rated 18-year-old is out of contract in 2024, but this latest update suggests that significant progress has been made on a new contract, with just small details regarding image rights needing to be finalised.
Garnacho is considered one of the most exciting young prospects in Erik ten Hag’s squad, so the manager will be pleased to get a new deal over the line.
According to ESPN, his new contract will see the Spaniard rewarded with a pay rise for his recent progress.
Garnacho has made 27 senior appearances for United so far, scoring three goals, and has put in some admirable performances in the Premier League this season.
The report adds that all parties are keen for the deal to be finalised, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.
These developments come at a time of uncertainty for the Red Devils, with the club receiving takeover bids from Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe
However, club officials have been told that, for now, it’s business as usual, meaning contract talks with players are unaffected.

Garnacho could become United’s next superstar
Garnacho, who signed for United from Atletico Madrid in 2020, is widely touted to become a fantastic player if his career continues on its current trajectory.
The youngster has a Spanish father and an Argentine mother and has featured for both country’s youth teams, showing how highly he is thought of.
Most recently, Garnacho scored a fine goal to seal a 2-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road and looks set to play a key role in Ten Hag’s squad for the remainder of the campaign.
The youngster is a versatile, dynamic player, with the ability to play as a winger on either flank or even as an attacking midfielder on occasion.
Garnacho is excellent with the ball at his feet, with the confidence to take on defenders and has averaged 1.8 successful dribbles per game in the Premier League this term.
Also, he has the confidence to take shots on from any angle – making an average of 1.6 shots on target per appearance for the Red Devils.
It represents an important step for United to tie the attacker down to a new deal until 2028, as he has recently attracted the interest of Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Alongside other young talents like Anthony Elanga, Jadon Sancho and Antony, United have a squad that could potentially become one of the world’s best in the future.
