Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Cristiano Ronaldo “will stay” at Manchester United until January at the earliest.
Talk of Wan-Bissaka and Ronaldo leaving Man Utd has rumbled on throughout this summer.
Ten Hag has preferred Diogo Dalot over Wan-Bissaka at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
Wan-Bissaka has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Ham in recent days, but he will only leave if a replacement is found.
Ronaldo meanwhile is keen to leave the club so he can return to playing in the Champions League.
The forward has been linked with several clubs around Europe but a bid for him has yet to arrive ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday night.
Ten Hag has suggested that United’s summer business will be complete once their deals Antony and Dubravka are finalised:
“I think so for this window, it will be the end [no more transfers after Dubravka signing], but when there is a great opportunity you always have to be alert as a top club,” Ten Hag told reporters on Wednesday (via Manchester Evening News).
“Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] will stay. This squad will go from September to a minimum January.”
On Ronaldo, he added: “It is clear. We need quality players. You need more to cover all the games to keep the consistency going.”
Man Utd have won two straight games in the Premier League so they sit on six points after four games.
The Red Devils are back in action on Thursday night as they face Leicester City, who are without a win in the league.
Ten Hag thinks his team “have a good base” to build on in the coming weeks:
“I see it as a start, we have a good base. This is the minimum of what we have to bring.
“I was happy to see the turn and we have to keep that, to keep the spirit and winning mentality because you need it if you want to have a successful season.”
On Leicester City, he continue: “I’ve seen a couple of games and we also knew from the last seasons how good they are and I think you can also see that in the games they’ve played to now.
“Their identity is really good to see, they play really football, so we have to be really good to get a result there.”
