Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has added three Ajax stars to a list of players he wants to buy over the next 18 months, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been performing well in the Premier League under Ten Hag with their 2-1 victory over Man City in the Manchester derby on Saturday putting them just one point behind the second-placed Citizens.

And Ten Hag is now keen to keep improving his squad as he momentum build at Old Trafford with The Sun claiming he has put ‘a dozen Dutch stars’ on his transfer ‘hit list’.

The former Ajax boss has ‘handed Manchester United’s European scouts a list of more than a dozen young Dutch stars to keep tabs on’ and Ten Hag has ‘made it clear he wants to lower the age profile of his squad over the next 18 months and is focusing on up-and-coming kids in his native Netherlands’.

Man Utd have previously been linked with Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber and Ten Hag is ‘still keen’ on the 21-year-old, while Ajax team-mates Devyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor are also on the list.

AZ Alkmaar winger Jesper Karlsson and PSV midfielder Joey Veerman are also part of Ten Hag’s dozen with the duo ‘earmarked as potential signings’.

An insider told The Sun: “The manager is insistent there are gems in Holland and Germany the club should take a greater interest in.

“He feels quite strongly that United can steal a march and the scouts have been told United need to ramp things up in both Holland and Germany.”

Despite beating defending champions City, Man Utd defender Luke Shaw – who was deployed at centre-back again by Ten Hag – think it’s “too early” to talk about challenging for the Premier League title.

Shaw said: “It’s too early to think about that. Right now as a team we have make sure we have the right consistency in performances and results.

“It’s always about winning. If you play well or not you need to be winning, and recently we’ve been doing that. We’ve not been playing our best but we’ve still been winning games.

“We’re still in four competitions. We’re Manchester United, we have to aim high, and of course we want to win all four but whether that happens or not is down to us, it’s down to the way we act, the way we rest and get ready for the next game.

“Now we have to forget about this game, forget about this win. We have a massive game on Wednesday against Crystal Palace.”
