Ten grand pianos have been placed around Madrid
as part of an initiative to 'bring music closer to the people'
LOCATION: Madrid, Spain
The project, titled ‘Your City is Filled with Pianos’
places the pianos in iconic spots of the Spanish capital
such as outside the Prado museum and the parliament
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) IGNACIO GALLARDO, DIRECTOR OF JESUS SERRA FOUNDATION ORGANISING THE EVENT, SAYING:"This initiative is trying to get music and piano playing closer to the population. Trying to give everyone equal opportunities by putting ten jewels at their disposal, ten grand pianos that can only be found in auditoriums or in music conservatories. We take them to the streets so that they can be played by everyone."
