Justin Bingham, the CEO and dad of four who fell to his death while canyoneering in Utah's Zion National Park, is being remembered by his family.

Ahead of his funeral on Sunday, Oct. 13, Bingham’s family shared a tribute through an online obituary for their late father, in which they said that while his “departure was abrupt and unexpected,” he left behind a “legacy that can never be taken.”

Then noting that he was both a “devoted and loyal husband” to his wife Lindsay and “a fiercely loyal, involved, dedicated and fun-loving” father to his four children, Turin, Ashton, Landon, and Ava, Binghman's family wrote that they "viewed him as Superman."

“His superpowers were most beautifully seen with his son Landon who has physical limitations including cerebral palsy and cortical vision impairment. Landon wasn’t going to let that stop him and neither was Justin,” their tribute continued, adding that the father-son pair were “blessed with the same determination.”

This determination, the family said, motivated them to take on new challenges, and they “hiked, climbed and rappelled mountains, wake-surfed, knee-boarded, body-surfed, rode bikes, skied,” “played basketball” and “traveled the world,” among other things.

“Justin’s eternal optimism, deep love and relentless positivity blessed his family as he pushed through the impossible to provide every joy and opportunity, no matter the circumstances, for each of his kids,” the family then wrote. “He and Lindsay embraced the unexpected with unwavering faith and a determination to find beauty in life.”

Those closest to Bingham, who worked as the CEO of software company Opiniion, next went on to describe him as someone who was “quite literally larger than life” and an individual who could fill a room “with light, energy and love.” They also said that he “never met a stranger” and “made life-long friends wherever he went.”

“His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was unrivaled,” the family continued. “He championed the underdog and inspired others to do and be more than they themselves even knew possible. There wasn’t anything Justin couldn’t do.”

They also noted that he was an “incredibly gifted outdoorsman” who “was at home in places most human eyes will never see,” and had previously summited Mt. Rainier, the Wasatch Range and the Tetons with his son Turin recently.

The National Park Service (NPS) previously announced the news of Bingham's death in a press release. He had been canyoneering with three other friends near the exit of Heaps Canyon when he accidentally fell and died.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time," Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh said.

Opiniion later also announced Bingham's death in a statement, writing, "Justin was involved in a tragic accident while enjoying one of his greatest passions — exploring the outdoors. Despite the best efforts of over 50 team members of various rescue teams, he passed away on the night of Saturday, Oct 5, 2024."

"Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of genuine connections, both with our clients and within our team," the company continued. "His commitment to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s spirit of adventure and dedication to living life fully will be deeply missed."
