Tear gas clears pro-president protesters in Peru
STORY: Footage showed people gathered near the National Congress building, in Lima, demanding a shutdown of the opposition-dominated chamber in a protest summoned by unions, leftist parties, and organisations under the motto “Lima's capture.”
Tensions rose when protesters used sticks to hit officers thus the riot police responded with tear gas canisters.
The clash of governing powers comes as Castillo faces several criminal investigations of alleged corruption.
