Eastern Europe's Team Spirit, dark horses of The International 10, completed their fairytale run on Dota 2's biggest stage. Initially getting off to a rocky start in the Group Stage, Spirit made it to the Upper Bracket, only to be sent right down to the Lower Bracket in their first series of the Main Event. However, the plucky underdogs then made short work of defending champions OG, Chinese juggernauts Invictus Gaming and Western European powerhouse Team Secret before they came face to face with the tournament favourites, China's PSG.LGD. Yet, with momentum behind them, Team Spirit stormed through PSG.LGD in the first two games of the grand finals. PSG.LGD rallied to peg them back to 2-2, but Spirit kept their cool for the title decider, bringing the Aegis of Champions back to the CIS/East Europe region after a lengthy drought.
