Will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Make Their Met Gala Debut?

As one of the year's hottest celebrity couples, it seems more than probable that they each landed on the gala's top-secret guest list, but according to People and E!News, they will be foregoing their red carpet debut this time around.

Both publications confirmed the news through an exclusive source, citing that Swift will be taking the time to gear up for the resumption of her Eras Tour. The "Fortnight" songstress will kick off the European leg of her record-breaking tour at Paris’s La Défense Arena on May 9, just three days after the gala on May 6. TMZ reported Kelce declined, as well, likely because his sweetheart "Tay" won't be there.

Earlier this month, Swelce's decision seemed more up in the air. “Taylor and Travis are not going to the Met Gala. They passed,” an insider reportedly told Us Weekly in an April 19 story. “They might go as it gets closer, but for now, they are not going.”

Why Do Fans Think the Couple Might Make a Surprise Appearance?

The “Cruel Summer” hitmaker hasn’t attended the gala since 2016, but there was speculation that that could change this year as she has appeared more comfortable in the public eye since she started dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. As of the most recent news, it seems unlikely.

But, perhaps the music mogul and Chiefs tight end will change their mind last minute and make a surprise appearance like they did at Coachella. Either way, the evening will be oozing with star and style power, with confirmed attendances from Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Rihanna, who will each try their hand at this year's theme, "The Garden of Time."
