Taylor Swift concerts canceled in Vienna after authorities disrupt alleged terror plot
Swift had been slated to perform three shows in the Austrian capital.
Taylor Swift's three Eras Tour concerts in Vienna have been canceled after two suspected terrorists were arrested in Austria on Wednesday, one of whom appeared to be plotting an attack on the shows.
A statement posted on Instagram by Swift's Taylor Nation account and concert promoter Barracuda Music said, "With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone's safety. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days."
The shows were slated for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
A representative for Swift declined to comment further.
According to the Associated Press, a man listed as the "main suspect" in the plot has been identified as a 19-year-old. He was arrested in Ternitz, which is south of Vienna, with a second man arrested in the Austrian capital.
Franz Ruf, the public security director at Austria's interior ministry, said in a press conference that police were made aware of "preparatory actions" for a possible attack "and also that there is a focus by the 19-year-old perpetrator on the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna," per the Austria Press Agency.

Further details were scarce, but Ruf told reporters that unnamed chemical substances were secured and were being investigated. The 19-year-old suspect allegedly pledged an oath of allegiance to the Islamic State group, while the other suspect is believed to have become radicalized on the internet.
Austrian authorities said in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly before news of the cancellation that there would be an increased police presence at the concerts as a result of the arrests. Additional anti-terrorism measures in the stadium and the surrounding area were to include airspace monitoring, police service dog units, mobile and stationary video surveillance, traffic closures, and extensive search measures before the shows.
