As one of PEOPLE's 2024 Creators of the Year, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 30, says that one specific person has helped her transform her life in 2024: her therapist.

"She was sent to me very specifically," Paul tells PEOPLE. "I remember praying for help because I was really struggling this year, given the stress earlier this year of being pregnant and then the show and then finding out hard things after. I feel like I've been through a lot."

" And I prayed. I was like, 'Just help me through this time around because I've just been through hell, I feel like, the last two years,'" she recalls.

Paul credits her therapist with helping her get into the right mindset to take on the challenges she faces as a mom, social media star and emerging public figure as a result of the show's success.

"The effort she has put in to help me — late nights and making sure I'm okay as a person — she really cared and has been through a lot of the same things, if not harder things. That, to me, was very interesting. I felt like I prayed for help and it was given to me in a way that I wouldn't never expected."

"It's interesting to say the therapist is the one who has left a mark on me, but I know, I didn't have to question, who was sent specifically to help me through this time."

The Hulu reality series has been one of the most buzzed-about shows of 2024, earning the cast a spot on PEOPLE's inaugural Creators of the Year list. Paul and castmate Whitney Leavitt spoke to PEOPLE about their shock around the show's astronomic ratings and endless buzz.

"I had no idea it would hit number one on Hulu, and so soon. The amount of people that have watched and seen it. And not only that, I thought it was more of a, 'Let's get your girls together' kind of watch, but there's a lot of men that enjoy the show," Paul says.

"I don't think any of us thought that it was going to be as big as it is and it's going to continue to be," Leavitt agrees. "It was something that we all wanted to do and we're so grateful with how big it actually got and how big I know it's going to just get even bigger from here. That was my biggest surprise, a thousand percent."
