HGTV star Tarek El Moussa and Selling Sunset’s Heather Rae Young are starting to share wedding plans. The couple recently got engaged while celebrating their one-year anniversary. El Moussa, who’s no stranger to big, romantic gestures (reminder: he bought Young a Ferrari for her birthday), surprised Young by popping the big question during their anniversary weekend in Catalina Island, one of their favorite places. Young was surprised with a path on the beach was lined with flickering candles and flower petals. If the couple’s wedding is anything like their engagement, it’s sure to be a sight to see. While the couple hasn't announced any final decisions about it just yet, they've been sharing their potential wedding plans. Here’s everything we know about El Moussa and Young's wedding.
What will their save-the-date look like?
Of course, the details listed on save-the-dates are important, but the focal point of the card? The photo. On Instagram, El Moussa asked his fans to help decide what picture he and Young should use for their save-the-date. He posted two gorgeous photos of him and Young dressed in formal wear, writing in the caption that they are torn between the images.
What kind of cake will be served at the wedding?
Last week, El Moussa and Young revealed that they filmed their wedding cake tasting for HGTV. The couple took to Instagram to announce the special, posting the same adorable photo of them standing in front of a table with six cakes.
They plan on having two cakes: one vegan and the other non-vegan. While they haven't decided on the types of cake yet, the couple shared what flavors they have in mind for the big day. El Moussa says he's thinking dark chocolate with strawberries and fudge, and Young says she's leaning toward chocolate peanut butter. Can't go wrong either way!
Has Young found a wedding dress?
Yes! In September, Young announced on Instagram that she found her wedding dress. While we don't know what the dress looks like, Young revealed the designer of the gown. In an Instagram post, she says that after trying on three of her favorite gowns, she chose her dream dress from her favorite wedding dress designer, Galia Lahav. If you're a fan of Selling Sunset, that name might sound familiar because Lahav designed a custom black wedding dress for Young's co-star Christine Quinn!
Who's planning their wedding?
On October 4, Young took to Instagram to announce that she and El Moussa have chosen wedding planner Kristi Lee of Details Details, a premier weddings and events company, to plan their big day. In the caption, Young says they had a lot of reasons to celebrate after the past week. "One of the reasons is that we finally decided on a wedding planner," Young writes, tagging Lee. "And after meeting with her today we realized we have a lot to do!"
Who's invited to the wedding?
During an episode of an episode of PeopleTV's Reality Check, Young revealed that Taylor Reese and Brayden James, El Moussa's children with ex Christina Anstead, will be involved in the wedding. Taylor is going to stand next Young and Brayden is going to stand next to El Moussa. However, Christina and her husband, Ant, won't be invited to the wedding. "We don't go to dinner with them," Young says. "We don't have lunch with them. We have a very civil, great relationship for the kids. The kids are number one. That's most important. But that's kind of where it stops."
Who's in the wedding party?
In a video uploaded to her Instagram stories, Young officially asks El Moussa's daughter, Taylor Reese to be a bridesmaid with an adorable gift box. In the video, El Moussa asks Taylor Reese what the box in front of her says, and she replies, "It says, 'Will you be my bridesmaid?'" Inside the box is a scratch-off card and little gifts, including jewelry. In the video, Young asks her sister, Jenna Young Piper, to be her maid of honor.
Will the wedding be on Selling Sunset?
While the couple's engagement was filmed for the small screen, Young revealed that she's leaning toward not having the wedding filmed. When asked about it in an interview with KTLA 5, Young says that it's something she and El Moussa have discussed. "It's a really personal and intimate day, and I don't know if I want my family mic'd up," she says. "I don't know if I want them pulled away while I'm having to film a scene. So, you know, it's something we're still in discussion about, but I'm leaning more towards no."
After their engagement, the couple seemed like they were originally open to filming their wedding. "That's something we need to sit down and really discuss if we really want all of the cameras around but I also think it's special to have it documented," El Moussa told E! News. "We can look back and have it forever just like the engagement."
What are the wedding colors?
Young told KTLA 5 that she wants the wedding to be "really classic and beautiful," featuring colors of bright pinks and some neutrals like black, white, and silver.
Where will the wedding be?
While El Moussa and Young don't know the exact location yet, they've narrowed it down to three destinations. Young took to Instagram to ask fans to help the couple decide between the following locations: a vineyard in Napa, California, somewhere on the ocean in California, and Capri, Italy.
Initially, the couple thought about getting married in Europe, California, or Mexico, according to an Instagram post El Moussa posted shortly after their engagement.
The couple planned on looking at wedding venue on August 16, El Moussa shared on social media. But they had to cancel the visit because Young got "terrible food poisoning." Young commented on the post to thank El Moussa for taking care of her while she was sick. "You took the best care of me! ❤️❤️ I love you so much," she writes. "Thanks for sleeping in the cold bed bathroom floor with me! 😊 My forever ♾"
When will the wedding take place?
While El Moussa was able to pull off a romantic proposal amid the coronavirus pandemic, he and Young want "a proper wedding" when things get back to normal, they told E News! a week after getting engaged. They don't know their exact wedding date just yet, but they expect it to be in less than year. At the end of August, Young shared on PeopleTV's Reality Check that the wedding will likely happen in summer 2021.
