Tanya Chua to compete for Best Female Singer again

20 May – Tanya Chua has been nominated in the Best Female Singer (Mandarin) category at the upcoming Golden Melody Awards yet again.

The Singaporean singer-songwriter, who has won three times before, is set to compete with singer-songwriter Waa Wei, R&B singer Karencici, pop singer Faye Zhan, Amis singer Ilid Kaolo, and Chinese singer TIA RAY in the said category.

It is noted that Tanya holds a joint record for the most accolades for the said category with Taiwanese singer A-Mei, and her most recent nomination may enable her to surpass the latter if she wins.

Tanya previously won the said category in 2006 for "Amphibian", 2008 for "Goodbye & Hello", and 2012 for "Sing It Out of Love".

In addition, her latest album "Depart" has also been nominated for Best Mandarin Album, and is set to compete with other contenders including Waa Wei's "Have a Nice Day" and Cui Jian's "A Flying Dog".

The 33rd Golden Melody Awards is set to be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 2 July.
