KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — South Indian actor Vijay’s upcoming action-drama, Leo, has become the highest-grossing Indian film on day one in the UK.

According to the Times of India news portal, Leo has earned over RM1.85 million at the UK box office through advance bookings alone, as of Saturday (October 7).

In only two days since its trailer was released, Leo has outperformed the opening collections of Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (RM1.77 million) and Pathaan (RM1.84 million) in the UK.

The UK became the first country in the world to open advance bookings for Leo on September 7.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vijay plays the role of Leo Das in the film, who fights to protect his family from a gang of thugs. The movie is said to be a part of Lokesh’s crime-based "cinematic universe” that will link with his previous projects namely, Kaithi and Vikram.

Leo's trailer also became the fastest Indian movie trailer to reach one million likes on Youtube last week. The movie will be released in theatres worldwide on October 19.
