Taliban fire into sky above Kabul, killing at least 17, to celebrate taking nationwide control

At least 17 people were killed and more than 40 injured by celebratory gunfire in Kabul on Friday, September 3. Taliban soldiers fired guns in the air to celebrate after reports they had seized control of Panjshir, the last province in Afghanistan to fall to them. However, it appears their celebration was premature as parts of the province are still controlled by opposition fighters.
