T.J. Holmes Says Another Passenger Accused Him of Stealing Her Phone During Flight With Amy Robach
“[She] flat out accuses me of taking her phone," Holmes said on Monday's episode of their 'Amy & T.J.' podcast
T.J. Holmes is sharing a recent incident where a woman accused him of stealing.
On Monday’s episode of their podcast, Amy & T.J., Holmes, 46, revealed that he and Amy Robach, 51, were on a flight to Los Angeles when a woman said she believed he stole her phone. The TV host said he was exiting the first-class bathroom when a woman sitting in seat 1F stopped him abruptly.
“She steps toward me and gestures — almost like she's about to frisk me — and says, ‘Oh, you don't have it,'” he recalled before continuing: “[She] flat out accuses me of taking her phone.”
He said he was shocked at the accusation, so he asked her to clarify why she was asking him.
“At this point, she's a short lady, so I actually scooch, I crouch down, I put my hands on my knees and get down to her level, and I say, ‘Ma'am, are you telling me I took your phone?’” he said. “And then she says, ‘Oh, no, but it was there,’ and then kind of ignores me.”
He continued to say that the flight attendant was “overly apologetic,” and Robach added that Holmes was “hot” over the situation.
“I go back to my seat next to row 5C, and I don’t sit in my seat,” he said. “I sit on the armrest.”

Holmes said he wanted to watch the woman search for her phone, and “sure enough,” it had fallen where her seat was. He said the woman then began to tell him she was “so sorry” repeatedly.
“Sorry just doesn't cut it at that point,” Robach said.
She also noted that these suspicions would only happen to “certain people.” Holmes said he stayed calm and was glad others were there to witness it and give him the courage to stand up for himself.
“If there weren't more people around, I don't think I would have bent down and would have been as assertive as I was because I wouldn't have a witness that I wasn't aggressive towards her or whatever it may be,” he admitted. “But that was a wild flight experience.”
Robach remembered the flight attendant returning to her and Holmes to apologize again and explain that the woman had been “difficult” and “crazy” the entire flight.
“It was awful,” Robach said.

Holmes and Robach first sparked romance rumors in November 2022 when they were spotted cozying up at a New York City bar.
At the time, Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue and Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig. A source told PEOPLE at the time that there was no overlap between their romance and their marriages.
Soon after, Robach and Holmes stepped down from their roles at ABC, and they have been together since.
