Sydney Sweeney surprised her grandmas with roles as 'little old nuns' in her new horror film

The actress revealed that her grandmothers had "never been to Europe" prior to their big screen moment.

Now this is some seriously divine casting.

Sydney Sweeney revealed that she tapped two very special people in her life to join her onscreen in her upcoming horror film Immaculate: her grandmothers. 

“I flew my grandmas out,” Sweeney confirmed on Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show. “They’d never been to Europe. My Grandy’s dream was to go to Italy, she’s never left the country before, so I surprised them, flew them there, and I let them be extras in the movie.”

The Euphoria actress, who produced and stars in the film, revealed that her grandmothers play a pair of “little old nuns” that reside in the same Italian convent as her character Cecilia. Over the course of the film, however, Cecilia discovers that there’s a darker side to her new home when she suddenly becomes pregnant by unknown forces.

Host Jimmy Fallon then revealed that Sweeney sent over “a bunch” of photos of her grandmothers on set to unveil on the show, but that “one stuck out” in particular. He then showcased an image of one of Sweeney’s grandmothers posing in her full habit costume while enjoying a smoke break.

“I just thought that was real,” he said through his laughter. “I just thought that was a real picture.”

“This is my Grandy,” Sweeney explained, pointing at the photo. “She’s iconic and she needed a smoke break in between takes, so we went outside and I had to capture how amazing she looked.”

When she wasn’t spending time with her grandmas on set, Sweeney said that she could also be found hiding some sweet treats in her false pregnancy belly for the film, adding, "I had Sour Patch Kids! Yeah, just a little snack."
