Swiss neighbors perform nightly choir

Recreating “Singing in the Rain”

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Residents in this apartment block

gather every evening

for a nightly choir

(SOUNDBITE) (French) 75-YEAR-OLD RESIDENT, DANIELE SALINS, SAYING:

"It breaks up the start of the evening. We get ready, we come to the balcony and look around, we say hello to neighbors we know well. There is music, across the street there is rock'n'roll, it's swinging. It feels good."

The century-old housing block

is known as ‘The Round House’

and allows for perfect balcony viewing

as neighbors perform their favorite classics

(SOUNDBITE) (French) 39-YEAR-OLD RESIDENT, TESSA, SAYING:

"It gives me the great feeling that I'm part of a community and that's the feeling that's broken at the moment, or at least which is made more complicated. Even if we are not together physically we still feel we are part of something that generates emotions and a sense of optimism and something very warm that makes me feel good."
