Swiatek pulverizes Voundrousova to set up semi-final with Gauff at French Open
Iga Swiatek swept into the semi-finals of the French Open on Tuesday following a 6-0, 6-2 annihilation of the fifth seed Marketa Vondrousova.
The 23-year-old Pole, who is seeking a fourth French Open crown in five years, blitzed the 2019 finalist from the outset and was a set up within 30 minutes.
Vondrousova won a game at the start of the second set and held a break point on Swiatek's serve. But that idea of rebellion was swiftly crushed. Swiatek held to lead 2-1 and notched up the next two for a 4-1 advantage
Vondrousova stopped the roll but from 4-2, Swiatek surged again to wrap up the victory in 62 minutes.
"I was serving better than in the earlier rounds," said Swiatek who was forced to save a match point in her second round tie against the former world number one Naomi Osaka.

"I was following my tactics and was hitting a heavier ball. I felt I was in the zone."
She will need to remain in that state of grace to see off Coco Gauff.
The third seed came from a set down to beat the eighth seed Ons Jabeur 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Jabeur was munficient in defeat. "I think she's playing great tennis right now. Obviously she's such a fighter, she's really smart on the court. I definitely see her becoming part of a "Big 4". They have the Big 3 right now.
In the bottom half of the men's draw, second seed Jannik Sinner faces the 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov and in the night session third seed Carlos Alcaraz plays the ninth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
