Sweet Magnolias is back and better than ever!
On Thursday, Dec. 19, Netflix announced that the highly anticipated fourth season of Sweet Magnolias would premiere on Feb. 6, 2025. In the brand new installment, fans will catch up on Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue's (Brooke Elliott) unpredictable life in Serenity.
"Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias takes us from Halloween to Christmas, with surprising laughter, unexpected heartbreak, and renewed resolve along the way," the show's official logline reads. "While negotiating the twists and turns of their romantic lives, Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen must also navigate the return of old foes, the loss of great loves, and the pain of transition from past dreams to present ones."
"As the men in their lives pursue their own dreams and the teenagers take uneasy steps toward adulthood, the Magnolias support each other with creative problem-solving, deep-hearted commitment, and — as always — weekly margaritas," the logline continues.
In addition to Garcia Swisher, Headley and Elliot, Logan Allen, Anneliese Judge, Carson Rowland, Dion Johnstone, Brandon Quinn, Jamie Lynn Spears, Chris Medlin and Justin Bruening will also return.
The new season will also feature two musical arrangements, with Headley performing "O Come, All Ye Faithful" while Dylan Rysstad's original song, "Margarita Christmas," also gets a spotlight.
In July, Garcia Swisher told PEOPLE that the upcoming installment was her favorite season yet.
"First and foremost, a lot happens in season 4 — like, jaw-dropping moments," she teased. "I also think that we know our characters so well. We're so involved and in love with these stories, and I think that the fans also have that same sense of connection and being on this journey with us."
Garcia Swisher also noted that "this season isn't without its inevitable swooping romance and beautiful moments and really tough, heartbreaking moments."
"It's got all of the Sweet Magnolias things, but it's just in a package of pedal to the metal," she continued. "There's not just one or two things that happen this season. And literally, the first half of the season."
Because of all the jam-packed action ahead, Garcia Swisher was admittedly caught by surprise. "I was trying to catch my breath when I was reading the scripts because at the end of every episode I was like, 'What?'" she recalled.
