Sustainable sculpture unveiled ahead of World Cup
STORY: Named "The Greatest Goal" and commissioned by World Cup partner Hyundai, the sculpture was styled as a soccer goal with a wire mesh depicting embracing arms positioned above it.
A wire mesh globe was placed in front of it, with live foliage covering the continents.
Designed by Barcelona-based Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quin, the sculpture encompasses the idea of togetherness and environmentalism.
It was made of recycled steel and welded in 72,000 places at his studio in Barcelona, a press release said.
The sculpture's net was also recycled by local fishing crews in nearby Doha harbor.
