Sussex Police Pursuit Ends in Ramming After Suspects Steal Car From Terminally Ill Man

Two men were arrested when police made “tactical contact” with a stolen vehicle during a pursuit in Bexhill, United Kingdom, Sussex Police said in a statement.

Dashcam footage, released on February 15, shows a police pursuit from Seaford to Bexhill after two suspects stole a white BMW from a terminally ill man. After giving chase, police rammed the BMW as it attempted to exit an Applegate petrol station on November 7, 2018.

After the initial contact, the suspects ran from the stolen car and jumped into a waiting black Fiat, prompting the officers to ram that vehicle as well. One man was apprehended after a chase on foot and the other located and detained by a dog unit, police said.

The two thieves, identified as Thomas Munday and Billy Draper, were sentenced on January 17 after each entered guilty pleas at Lewes Crown Court. Munday was sentenced to five years of prison and Draper to six, having previously been released from jail on license, according to police. Credit: Sussex Police via Storyful
