  • Last year, fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched a campaign to plant 10,000 trees.

  • Sussex Great Forest shared an update revealing that 530 more trees have now been planted in upstate New York.

  • They've adorably nicknamed the project "Archie's Woods."

Global conservation has always been a key concern in the work of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry. So it makes sense that fans of the Sussexes wanted to pay it back by starting a campaign to plant 10,000 trees in the family's honor.

Donations flooded in when the social media campaign launched in 2019, and work has already begun on planting trees around the world. The original goal of 10,000 has long been surpassed, and now more than 115,000 trees have been planted.

Sharing an update, the @SussexGtForest Twitter account revealed, "Thank you to Toby and the incredible team at Woods Ravine Farm. They’re planting 530 trees in #SussexGreatForest—our largest grove of planted trees yet." The caption continued, "A once abandoned farm in upstate New York is now the home of #ArchiesWoods."

As the video shows, the scale of the project is incredibly impressive, and it's delightful to see the Sussexes inspiring positive change around the world.

The Sussexes previously responded to the initiative in their Instagram Stories and wrote, "Huge thanks to the amazing group of people who have launched the grassroots Sussex Great Forest initiative. What a special surprise!" They continued, "The aim of this project is to plant 10,000 trees around the world by donating globally and planting locally. We are so inspired! Thank you!"
