Susan Sarandon Still Meets 'People Who Were Devastated' by Her Breakup with Tim Robbins: 'I Feel So Bad for Them'
The actress also reflected on still being friends with her ex in her chat with 'The Sunday Times,' explaining, "You have kids … you don’t have any choice"
Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins were a match made in heaven to some — and 15 years after their split, people are still telling her so.
"I still run into people who were devastated when we broke up," the actress, 78, told The Sunday Times in an interview published Nov. 10. "I feel so bad for them."
The former couple met on the set of 1988's Bull Durham and were together for more than 20 years before they went their separate ways in 2009. They share two sons: Jack Robbins, 35, and Miles Robbins, 32. (Susan is also mom to daughter Eva Amurri, 39, from a previous relationship with Franco Amurri.)
And while their romance ended a decade and a half ago, Susan told the outlet that she and Robbins, 66, are still friends. “You have kids … you don’t have any choice," she said.

Asked whether she would ever work with Robbins again, Susan said she wouldn't rule it out.
“If he brings me something I like, yeah,” she replied. “Imagine if people in Hollywood didn’t work with the people they slept with.”
The Rocky Horror Picture Show actress also reflected on her earlier relationship with Chris Sarandon, whose last name she kept following their 1979 divorce after more than a decade of marriage.
"He was a very kind man and he kept me alive, you know, so I’m happy to have that name,” she told The Sunday Times.

While speaking to PEOPLE about her love life in 2021, Susan — who has also dated Louis Malle and Jonathan Bricklin — said, "I would like to have a travel companion, male, female — age doesn't matter."
"But I would like to find someone who's up for an adventure kind of attitude," the Thelma & Louise actress added at the time. "And also, who cares about something passionately and who loves what they do, whatever that is."
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight more recently, Susan suggested she hasn't closed the door on love while discussing daughter Eva's recent wedding to Ian Hock.
"I'm open to love," she told the outlet. "On every level, absolutely. I wouldn't say I'm looking for a guy to share my medicine cabinet, but I love an adventurer."
"I'd love to [find] anybody that's still curious and passionate, you know?" Susan added while speaking at the New York City premiere of her movie The Fabulous Four.
