Surfers Ride Waves on San Lorenzo River as Storm Hits California's Central Coast

Surfers rode waves in the San Lorenzo River in Santa Cruz, California, on January 5, after a storm brought dangerous surf conditions to parts of the state’s Central Coast.

Santa Cruz County officials said the storm has caused “significant damage” throughout the county and advised residents to avoid the coast due to a high tide and large surf.

The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory and forecast more rain over the weekend and into early next week. Credit: Amanda Daria Stoltz via Storyful
