Surfers Brave Hurricane Fiona Waves Off New Jersey Coastline

Surfers in southern New Jersey enjoyed large waves courtesy of Hurricane Fiona on Friday, September 23, footage shows.

Mike Bogad said he captured this video in Ventnor City, south of Atlantic City, on Friday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) had warned of “dangerous rip currents and breaking waves up to 8 feet” and life-threatening storm surge as Fiona moved north.

The hurricane hit Bermuda as a Category 3 before restrengthening to a Category 4 over the Atlantic Ocean. It was expected to make landfall in Atlantic Canada later Friday. Credit: Mike Bogad/The Weather Channel via Storyful
