Surcharge for taxi rides from Singapore Changi Airport to increase by $3
SINGAPORE — The surcharge for cab rides from Changi Airport will increase by $3 from 19 May until 30 June in a bid to ensure more taxis are available for passengers.
The move was announced by Changi Airport on Thursday (12 May) via its Facebook page.
The increase means that trips from 5pm to 11.59pm daily will have a surcharge of $8, up from $5, while trips at all other times will have a surcharge of $6, up from $3.
Transport Minister S Iswaran said earlier this month that passenger traffic at Changi Airport more than doubled in April from the previous month, reaching 40 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
In March alone, about 1.14 million passengers passed through Changi Airport.
Singapore fully reopened its borders to vaccinated travellers, who will not need to be quarantined, on 1 April.
