Supermarket shelves empty due to pingdemic and transport staff shortages

Bristol, UK. 22nd July 2021. Shoppers in a Bristol branch of Sainsbury's supermarket experience bare fruit and veg boxes, as well as empty freezer cabinets and other aisles. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has asked the Government to change self-isolation guidance for workers, warning that supermarkets and other retailers are under ‘increasing pressure’. It comes as the UK's mounting lorry driver shortage also puts increased pressure on the country’s grocery supply chain.
