Sunday shows preview: Trump, Harris still deadlocked days from election

White House candidates former President Trump and Vice President Harris are still deadlocked with just two days before Election Day. Both contenders are visiting battleground states in the final stretch of the contentious contest, looking to turn out their supporters and deliver their closing arguments on why they should be the next commander-in-chief.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is set to appear on CNN’s “State of the Union” where he will likely discuss what both presidential candidates are doing in the final days of the election and Harris’s standing in his home state of Pennslyvania, a swing state that carries 19 Electoral College votes. Fetterman made headlines last weekend when said that Trump’s impact on the Keystone State was “astonishing” and likened it to Taylor Swift.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will be on CBS’ “Face the Nation” where he will likely talk about the developments occurring in the election’s home stretch. Rubio also might discuss the fallout from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s set during Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally last weekend where he described Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage.” Rubio disavowed the jokes earlier this week.

Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly (D) is set to be on “Fox News Sunday” where he will likely discuss the state of the presidential election and the vice president’s standing in the battleground state of Arizona. Harris was in Phoenix on Thursday where she appeared alongside Senate hopefully Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), who is running against Trump-backed Republican candidate Kari Lake. Kelly said this week on CNN that Harris will win Arizona, the state President Biden carried in 2020.

Texas’ Senate race is one of the most watched contests in 2024 where Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is looking to secure another term in the upper chamber. The Senate Republican is running against Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas) with the recent polls showing a tight race in the red-leaning state. Cruz is set to appear on “Sunday Morning Futures,” which will air on Fox Business, where he will likely discuss his reelection bid and the 2024 presidential race.

Harris leads Trump by 0.2 percent, 48.3 percent to 48.1 percent, according to the latest The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s aggregate of polls.
