Sultan of Selangor says Royals should set standard of exemplary conduct, be united as a team
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj emphasised the need for strong unity and cohesion among all nine Malay Rulers.
Sultan Sharufuddin said this at a recent meeting with Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim where they had discussed matters that included football.
The Selangor Sultan stated that it was important that the Malay Rulers retain unity as a team, as part of their role in facing the problems of the people.
Sultan Sharufuddin also reminded all Royals to display exemplary behaviour whether it be in public or on social media to win the respect and love of the people, and also said that sensitive issues concerning Malay Rulers should not be discussed on social media.
Regarding football, an understanding has been reached that there will no longer be any disputes and conflicts that could lead to enmity and violence.
The Selangor Sultan also reiterated that football is the people’s sport that has long united society, and therefore it should be preserved and maintained as one of the means of national harmony.
