‘Suits’ Finally Falls to Second Place on Nielsen’s Streaming Rankings as ‘Virgin River’ Takes No. 1

After 12 weeks on top, “Suits” has finally fallen — but not too far.

The USA Network procedural has concluded a summer-long reign as the most-watched streaming title, which began when Netflix acquired it in June — though Peacock had already been streaming the series. With a still-whopping 1.9 billion watched, “Suits” took second place on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for Sept. 11-17.

Now, “Virgin River” sits in the spot that belonged to “Suits” for so long. The Netflix drama was watched for 2.1 billion minutes during this viewing window, the first full week of availability for Season 5 Part 1. This marks a jump from last week, when the series landed at No. 2 with 1.9 billion minutes.

With 1.7 billion minutes watched, the No. 3 spot went to “Elemental,” the Pixar film that hit theaters in June and debuted on Disney+ during this viewing window with five days to spare. It was followed by “Bluey,” another children’s title. The animated series has remained on the top half of the chart for months, and between Sept. 11 and Sept. 17, was watched for 835 million minutes.

Two chart frequenters imported to streaming from network TV followed “Bluey”: “Grey’s Anatomy” at No. 5 with 834 million minutes watched, and “S.W.A.T.” at No, 6 with 798 million minutes watched.

Limited series “Dear Child” missed the Top 10 when it premiered within the last four days of the previous viewing window, but this week made its chart debut. The series was watched for 720 million minutes in its first full week of availability on Netflix.

Eighth and tenth place also went to chart regulars: “Cocomelon” with 66 million minutes watched and “NCIS” with 603 million minutes watched. In between them in ninth place, was “One Piece,” which was watched for 663 million minutes in its second full week of availability.
