Structures Burn as Gospers Mountain Fire Flares in New South Wales

Fire crews worked through the night into Sunday, December 15, to build containment lines around the giant Gospers Mountain blaze, which had been burning in the Hawkesbury region north-west of Sydney for more than a month.

On Sunday afternoon, authorities warned residents remaining in Mount Wilson, Mount Irvine, Mount Tomah, Berambing, and Bilpin that it was “too late to leave” as the fire continued to grow, crossing a creek and breaking containment.

A number of structures burned as the fire spread, with 7News Sydney reporting some of the buildings were believed to be homes.
