Strong Winds and Rain Batter Galveston as Hurricane Nicholas Makes Landfall

Hurricane Nicholas made landfall in Texas early on September 14, bringing with it sustained winds of 75 mph.

This footage, posted by Twitter user @MagicUnderwood after Nicholas made landfall, shows Galveston being battered by heavy winds and driving rain.

The National Weather Service warned the hurricane could cause “heavy rain, high winds and a dangerous surge" on the Texas coast.
