Strong Waves Churn Off Cancún Beach as Storm Zeta Hits Mexico

Storm Zeta, the 27th named Atlantic storm of the season, brought strong winds, heavy rain, and high tides to Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula after making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane on October 26.

This footage, posted to Instagram by Adam Brian Dada, shows waves churning on a Cancún beach as palm trees sway in wind gusts.

Quintana Roo Governor Carlos Joaquín said the hurricane had weakened to a tropical storm by October 27, with maximum sustained wind speeds of 68 miles per hour.

The storm was expected to bring hurricane conditions and life-threatening storm surges to parts of the US Gulf Coast by late Wednesday. Credit: Adam Brian Dada via Storyful
