Three men in Alabama have gone viral after a heartwarming random act of kindness.
Jamario Howard was out for dinner with friends JaMychol Baker and Tae Knight when he noticed an older woman dining by herself at Brad’s Bar-B-Que in Oxford.
“My exact thought was, ‘Dang I’d hate to have to eat alone,’” Howard wrote on Facebook Thursday. “So after thinking about it a minute, I walked over to her and asked if I could sit with her.”
As it turns out, Howard’s friendly efforts came at a meaningful time for the woman, who told the group that she was a widow who was eating out in honor of her upcoming wedding anniversary.
“She said yes and we talked for a minute and after a while of talking she told me she lost her husband and that tomorrow would have been their 60th anniversary,” Howard wrote. “I instantly gave my condolences and asked her to come eat with us, which she was excited to do.”

Howard, 23, said dining with the woman changed his outlook on how he views strangers. He encouraged anyone reading his post to not only embrace kindness but to spend more time with family.
“The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through,” he wrote. “Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people I can’t stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!”
Howard told NBC News the woman’s name was Eleanor, and that in their conversations, she spoke about her grandchildren and the volunteer work she does at a local hospital.
He told the outlet that he has seen Eleanor since their dinner and that they plan to keep in touch.
The viral post has been shared more than 58,000 times and has more than 20,000 comments, many of which praise the young men.
“We really need more people like you in this world,” one user wrote. “Be proud of yourself.”
Wrote another, “You are such good people. Thank you for caring.”
